Bulgaria - Praznik

 “Praznik” - HOLIDAY

Music: Stefan Diomov

Text: Bogomil Gudev

By the path in the morning

a salesman met me with flowers.

It was weekday that day,

quiet and most ordinary.

And flowers are bought by the world,

since they have to decorate a holiday.

But I don't know why now,

how it happened and what it was.

On this weekday, on this day,

quiet and most ordinary

I involuntarily stopped in front of the flowers

and I reached out with my eyes to them.

Chorus:

There is Joy hidden somewhere near us.

And the hour comes

when without asking us

she flies in.

The salesman smiled and

handed me a flower without money.

It was weekday that day,

quiet and most ordinary.

And bells rang countless,

that it suddenly became a holiday.

Chorus:

There is Joy hidden somewhere near us.

And the hour comes

when without asking us

she flies in.

But I don't know why now,

how it happened and what it was.

On this weekday, on this day,

quiet and most ordinary

and bells rang countless,

that it suddenly became a holiday,

and bells rang countless,

that it suddenly became a holiday.

What brings us Joy?

When everything in us is in harmony, Joy affects us and turns ordinary days into holidays.

Children and adults celebrate, the whole world celebrates. But a holiday with flowers is more beautiful, that's why we decorate with flowers on a holiday. On this day, everyone is smiling, bells are ringing and Joy just flows without asking…

The students of 22 SEU "G.S. Rakovski" - 2 "B" class and their teacher - Mrs. Aneta Lukanova are happy to present the song "Holiday" - music: Stefan Diomov, lyrics: Bogomil Gudev for their participation in eTwinning project - Schoolovision 2024.

Slovakia - Zuby

Our video is very educational this year! You do not need to know our language to understand the message. However, we hope it is mainly fun :-)

We are happy to be here again and enjoying all your entries.

Good luck to everyone. And remember: Čistite si zuby!!!

Ukraine - Obiimy

Wars create situations when feelings of loneliness, fear, stress and grief become an inseparable part of our lives. These feelings can ultimately be harmful for all the humans but especially, they are dangerous for kids.  At the same time, a wonderful hug from a family member or friend will be more than handy. Schoolovision is like a big friendly family!!!!

That is why this year we have chosen the song “Obiimy” to embrace all the children who need hugs of love and support and those who experience wars in their countries and those who know what wars are. We would like to be hugged and to hug everyone who needs it. We would like to share this “happiness hormone” with you - our friends and partners. Thank you for your support for Ukraine! We are more than grateful! Let’s stop wars!

Somewhen comes the day,

And war will be over,

Where I've lost myself,

Seen it all to the bottom.

Hug me, hug me, hug me

So tenderly and never let go,

hug me, hug me, hug me

Let your spring come again.

Norway - Yeyai!

This year we wanted to make a fun and catchy song for the Schoolovision contest. Something that would make people smile! We also wanted to say that we are all connected - “under the big blue sky” - and when we sing and dance that is something to think about. And the fact that we are two schools in the south of Norway cooperating this year!

Schoolovision is really helping to remind us all how important the power of music is to connect children and teachers all over the world, through music.

We hope you all enjoy “Yeyai” as much as we did making it!

Greetings from Norway!

Italy - BUMBUM CHACHA

The last days of school are always a celebration but this year 2024 they are special days for us because we finish the primary level and next school year we will move into another building with new teachers.
We will bring good memories, which remain forever impressed in our hearts.
With this song, we want to greet our school, our teachers, our classmates, and you all.
Enjoy your summer, enjoy your life, and always smile!

Greece - Mia Ellada fos (Greece full of light)

Through the ancient ages till the present, light travels along our country...
Travel with us to the history and the greek traditions....
and feel the sweet melodies of the
summer coming soon!!!!

Slovenia - Cracks

'Cracks' is newest song by Pogrüntey, a school band from Bistrica ob Sotli, Slovenia. Guitar player Julija wrote both music and lyrics. (The band's coach Andrej helped a little.)

Nowadays, when we are surrounded by cameras, liked (or ignored) on social media and compared to the pixel-perfect celebrities and influencers, the pressure to present ourselves in unrealistically great light seems stronger than ever.

But, as this song and the video suggests: the worst critic is looking back at you from the reflection of a mirror.

On the other hand: when we hang out with a group of close friends, the pressure disappears and we can truly be ourselves.

Austria - The Future Is Now

We are very happy to show you the Austrian Song for Schoolovision 2024. For the second time the VS Köflach takes part in it. The Children had a lot of fun producing everything and are very proud of the outcome. The song and the video are intended to show in a humorous but also sarcastic way what the adults could do to protect or save our planet, but mostly don't do. The children want to be heard by the grown-ups, because the future belongs to them. "Hey we are the children don' let us down, please give us a chance to turn it around" Lyrics: Tierwohl, was soll das denn sein? Wenn die andren sich nicht ändern, bleib ich auch so wie ich bin Hey, we are the children don't let us down Stop, wasting our planet the future is now Hey, we are the children don't let us down Please, give us a chance to turn it around Wieder mal ne Jahresgage Neuer Benz in der Garage Warum mit den Öffis fahrn Wer mit dem Zug fährt, ist doch arm Billigstware vom Regal Menschenrechte? Mir egal Wichtig ist, ich zahl nicht viel Hauptsache ein guter Deal Ein Klick, noch ein Klick, am nächsten Tag zur Tür geschickt Wenn es mir dann nicht gefällt, wird es einfach weggekickt Wenn ich reise....mach ich das nicht leise Langer Flug nach Dubai...Kerosin und Billigpreise Hey, we are the children don't let us down Stop, wasting our planet the future is now Hey, we are the children don't let us down Please, give us a chance to turn it around

Israel - The Sun Will Shine

The sun will shine and give us hope, the stars will show us the way.

The monument of "The White City" where everyone lives equally. The city which accepts everyone and sees the good and simple in every person.

The olive tree which grew inside the rock, symbolizes continuity, tradition. The roots are planted deep in the ground. Our family will comfort us and our roots will be our strength.

The olive tree grows in the Mediterranean climate and is a symbol of peace and health and one of the symbols of the Land of Israel.

We hope for a better future. Waiting for the sun rising and lightening the way.

We are the people, we will live and create.  The sun will shine upon us.

Basque Country - YES, LORD YES!

This year, the song we present to Schoolovision meets more objectives and is personalized for the school in different aspects.

The video clip shows in a familiar way the work of some members of the center, who together with the teachers, work for the children and keep the school running.

The song integrates the school's values in its lyrics, and in its second half, it is Dani Pérez's own composition, a primary school teacher. So, the song is tailor-made.

YES, LORD YES

I’ll say yes, Lord yes. To your will and to your ways.

I’ll say yes, Lord yes. I will trust you and obey.

When your Spirit speaks to me.

With my whole heart I’ll agree.

And my answer will be yes, Lord yes.

Zuri bai, beti. Zurekin nahi dut bizi.

Ta zuregandik dena nahi dut ikasi.

Galduta nagoenean

Itsuka zuregana

Bide hoberik ez dago ta.

Lithuania - Folk Songs

We like to sing folk songs very much. This song is about our country Lithuania. It is a collection of several songs. Enjoy listening!

Finland - Saimaannorppa (The Saimaa Seal)

Kurittula school is very happy to be able to represent Finland in the Schoolovision 2024 contest! Our song this year is a Finnish children's song Saimaannorppa (The Saimaa Seal). The song is about an endangered Finnish animal species  whose protection is important.

The Saimaa seal

(Composition & Lyrics Leena Untamala, Lyrics in English Pauliina Kaksonen)

I’m a Saimaa seal called Armas. I’ve got flippers, missing toes.

I play with friends in water, we fish swirling under water.

You can see me here, on a rock or on the frozen lake.

There are only few of us left, so for our good, please protect.

:,: Hi, hi, I’m a Saimaa seal! Hi, hi, I say hi to you! :,:

I am aware for the lake is so vast. I probably dodge the nets but only just.

I high five my friends and together we start to sing.

You can see me here, on a rock or on the frozen lake.

There are only few of us left, so for our good, please protect.

:,: Hi, hi, I’m a Saimaa seal! Hi, hi, I say hi to you! :,:

I really enjoy just lingering, that’s why I crawl towards the beach and start floating.

:,: Hi, hi,  I’m a Saimaa seal! Hi, hi, I say hi to you! :,:

Spain - CELEBRA LA VIDA (CELEBRATE LIFE)

The boys and girls of the CEIP Elvira Vaquero, from the town of Valsequillo in Gran Canaria, representatives of Spain in the Schoolovision contest, have a noble purpose: they want all the boys and girls in the world to be happy. Through their interpretation of the song "Celebra la Vida" by Axel Cabrera, they transmit a message of joy, solidarity and love, with the aspiration of spreading that happiness to every corner of the planet. Their participation is not only an example of artistic talent, but also a gesture of commitment to the well-being and happiness of all boys and girls, thus promoting a happier world full of hope.

These are some of the values that can be identified in the lyrics of the song, which the boys and girls of the CEIP Elvira Vaquero perform in this edition of the European school competition:
Optimism and joy: The song conveys a message of celebrating life and enjoying every moment with optimism and joy.
Solidarity and helping others: Emphasis is placed on helping people and thinking freely, promoting solidarity and mutual support.
Persistence and patience: We encourage you to fight for what you want and to be patient in the pursuit of our goals.
Detachment and freedom: The importance of carrying little burden and not clinging to material things is mentioned, promoting freedom and detachment.
Courage and Resilience: It encourages us to move forward even when faced with challenges or disappointments, encouraging courage and resilience.
Love and generosity: It talks about loving without fear and sharing joy and love with others, promoting generosity and affection.
Peace and rejection of violence: A call is made to promote peace and reject violence, promoting peaceful coexistence and mutual respect.
From Spain -Canary Islands, with this interpretation we invite you to "Celebrate Life", to value and enjoy every moment, promoting from childhood values such as optimism, solidarity, perseverance, freedom, love, peace...
“CELEBRATE LIFE”, always.

Lyrics

Celebrate life
I don’t know if I was dreaming,
I don’t know if I was sleeping,
And the voice of an angel
Said to tell you:
Celebrate life.
Think freely,
Help everyone,
And for what you want
Fight and be patient.
Carry a light load
Don’t hold on to anything
Because in this world
Nothing is forever.
 Look for a star
To be your guide,
Hurt no one
Spread joy.
Celebrate life, celebrate life,
Because nothing is saved
Everything is shared.
Celebrate life, celebrate life,
Second by second and every day.
It’s time to change, to live in love, peace and friendship
that we live without grudges to improve
tolerance and respect for others
I love you and you must learn to live, to smile, to give to receive
listen to what this school wants to say
Live the happy life
Shout against hatred
Against lies,
Because war is death,
And peace is life.

I don’t know if I was dreaming,
I don’t know if I was sleeping,
And the voice of an angel
Said to tell you:
Celebrate life, celebrate life
And leave in the earth your best seed
Celebrate life, celebrate life
Which is much more beautiful when you look at me.

Uzbekistan - I pLove you

We are the International Talent Academy school. Greetings from Uzbekistan!

International Talent Academy school is happy to participate in the Schoolovision contest for the first time on behalf of Uzbekistan.

Our primary years students with the help of teachers created a song called "I pLove you".

At International Talent Academy, we take pride in celebrating our rich cultural heritage and traditions. In Uzbekistan, one of our favorite dishes is the traditional national dish called Pilaf, known as pilau, plov in various parts of the world. This dish holds a special place in our hearts as it symbolizes unity, togetherness, and shared experiences.

As an international school, we believe we should celebrate our diversity in the way that it unites us rather than set boundaries. Our school community is a melting pot of different cultures, languages, and backgrounds, and we celebrate this diversity every day.

One of the ways we express our unity and friendship is by inviting our friends to join us around the table with a delicious serving of Pilaf. It is during these moments that we not only enjoy a flavorful meal but also engage in meaningful conversations about global issues, the importance of friendship, and the pursuit of peace.

Through our participation in the Schoolovision contest, we hope to share a glimpse of our school's values, culture, and hospitality with the world. We invite you to watch our video, listen to our song, and immerse yourself in the beauty of the Uzbek language. We hope that our message of love, unity, and friendship resonates with you and inspires you to embrace diversity in all its forms.

We are happy to spread joy and positivity through music, food, and the universal language of love. Thank you for being a part of our story!

Lyrics:

Cheksiz dunyo xaritasida,

Osiyoning qoq o‘rtasida.

O‘zbekiston degan diyor bor,

Go‘zallikda erur betakror.

Do‘stim kelaqol,

Dasturxon tayyor,

Chorlaydi seni

Go‘zal, yorqin O‘zbekiston!

Bu palov, bu somsa, bu patir -

Olamga tatir.

Kel do‘stim, mehmon bo‘l -

Ko‘p do‘stlar seni kutayotir.

We serve up our plov

Always with Love

East or West

Be our guest

Drink some hot tea

Feel liberty!

We are the younger generation

Who strives for innovation.

But we have a good old tradition,

Keeping us in top condition.

I pLove you my friend

It's a national trend

PLove can unite everyone

Come to Uzbekistan!

Lyrics translated into English

On the map of the infinite world,

In the middle of  of Asia.

Uzbekistan has a land,

In beauty, our land is unique.

My friend come and join us,

The table is ready,

It’s calling you

Beautiful, bright Uzbekistan!

It's pilaf, it's somsa, it's patir -

Its taste spread to the universe.

Come my friend, be our guest -

Many friends are waiting for you.

We serve up our plov

Always with Love

East or West

Be our guest

Drink some hot tea

Feel liberty!

We are the younger generation

Who strives for innovation.

But we have a good old tradition,

Keeping us in top condition.

Rules

The 2024 Eurovision Song Contest final will take place on Saturday, 11 May.

Meanwhile, the 2024 edition of Schoolovision will come to its conclusion on Friday, 10 May, the day before the real Eurovision. Join us in this fun-filled project, as we find out who will be the latest Schoolovision Champions in the 16th edition of our grand project.

We welcome all members, new and old, to this unique eTwinning project, which guarantees fun for all participants, students and teachers alike, as we learn about each others' cultures through the medium of music and song with the added excitement of a friendly competition.

Full rules below; please read them carefully!

OVERVIEW

Following a similar format to the Eurovision Song Contest, Schoolovision 2024 will once again allow one primary school from each eTwinning (Plus) country and beyond wishing to participate, to record and upload a song of their choice, to be viewed by all other participants in the project.

In addition, all countries will be asked to evaluate and vote for their favourite songs after they have listened to all the others - and of course, voting for yourself will not be allowed!

You and your class will have until Friday, 03 May to decide upon your song, practise it, video it, and get it uploaded and embedded onto the project blog website, using either YouTube or Vimeo.
Once all songs are uploaded, you will need to get your class to watch all the other countries' entries and decide who will receive your votes. This should be done in the week from Monday, 06 May until Thursday, 09 May.

On Friday, 10 May 2024 you have two choices: You can either join the team for a video conference, starting at 10.00 am CEST time, during which we will announce our votes to each other and total the votes up, so we can establish the winner. Or, if this is not possible, you will be able to watch a recording of the video conference afterwards to see who the winners are, or simply visit the project website, as the results will be posted straight after the video conference finishes.
In any case, you will need to email your votes to Steffen, the project administrator, by Thursday evening (09 May) and NO LATER than 1800 hrs CEST. Thus we will be able to successfully total all the votes from all participating countries and announce who are Schoolovision champions for 2024. The winning school will be sent a specially commissioned trophy!

FULL RULES

1. There can only be one entry from each country with an independent status. Usually, this will mean one participating school per country. As a special exception, joint entries of several schools from one country are acceptable.

2. Schoolovision is for primary schools only. In addition, the participants (active singers) must be a maximum of 12 years old during the present school year. Their turning 13 in between is acceptable.

3. All previous entrants will already have received a request, asking to confirm that they wish to enter the 2024 contest. After confimation they will receive an invitation to become an official eTwinning partner in the project, followed later by a separate invitation to contribute to this project blog. You need to sign up for the blog, whereby you will be able to upload your finished song in due course.

In addition, please send Steffen a photograph of your school and the link to its website, so that everyone can see which countries and schools are participating this time.

4. The song you choose to sing should be one of your choice, hopefully chosen in collaboration with your pupils, and can be sung in any language. It can be a well-known song or an original song that perhaps no-one else will have heard of - it's up to you!
However, it MUST be connected to your country in some way. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT IF THE SONG HAS BEEN COPYRIGHTED, YOU MUST GET PERMISSION BEFORE USING IT.

5. Musical accompaniment is permitted but only in the following way: Members of your class (your pupils) who wish to play musical instruments can do so, and your song can have adult help who could for example, play a piano or a keyboard to lead the tune of the song. Alternatively, you can use a CD for the tune (but without the original singers' voices) - your children MUST do the singing!

6. All entries MUST be completed and uploaded by Friday, 03 May midnight at the latest. When your song is ready, it is your task to post the video of your song to the project website via www.blogger.com using the embed code provided by either YouTube or Vimeo. All files must be uploaded by Friday, 03 May, as each country will then need to watch all the entries and judge them during the following week, Monday, 06 May till Thursday, 09 May.

7. Once you and your pupils have watched each entry and chosen your favourites, please email your choices to Steffen before 1800 hrs CET on THURSDAY, 09 MAY.
YOU MUST NOT VOTE FOR YOUR OWN ENTRY!

7.a As of 2018 we adopted (but leave optional for you to choose individually) the latest ESC rule according to which 50 % of the votes are given by an expert jury, in this case us teachers. As we are not technically able to copy the exact voting process of the ESC, we will install it in such a way that all partners may mix their national pupil votes with their own teacher votes before sending them in.

8. It is always a great experience to receive positive and encouranging comments. By participating in this project, you also agree to let your pupils write such comments under the videos of their partners. Equally, you will reserve some time to write a number of comments yourselves. You are welcome to encourage colleagues and parents to follow your example, thus making the great work of your pupils and yourselves more known and positively regarded, just as the whole Schoolovision project.

9. In the earlier years of this project all countries' entries were listed according to their results. However, since some partners were unhappy with the unequal chances (perhaps due to different availability of technical and muscial support in the various countries), a new rule was installed in 2016. All partners can choose if they wish to be listed with their full result or if they just wish to be named including a link to their entry. The top 20 scores will be published automatically; all others may opt in to be listed with their actual results.

GOOD LUCK to all partners! Enjoy making your own video and watching all the other entries, too!
May the best overall entry lead the scoreboard while we are all winners in this together!

*** As said above, the whole point of Schoolovision is that you try to sing something that relates to your country. If you compose your own song - fantastic! Over the past years, we have had some really outstanding compositions by various Schoolovision teams.
If you choose to sing a song that has already been recorded previously, then it MUST be culturally relevant to your own country. If you're unsure whether your song idea complies with this rule, please contact Steffen and Marek.
